In September of 2008, we adopted a new strategic mission statement.  We see this statement transforming our ministries at every level.  It was developed and chosen for its clarity, focus and movement.  In a sense - or purpose is our process.

We are devoted to making disciples of Jesus who encounter God, grow in community and impact our world.

In the fall of 2006, FBC's Elders assembled a team we called The Vision Community.  Through a series of mini-retreats, we began learning together about what makes for a healthy church, and seeking God's leading for the future direction of our ministry.

Through a variety of internal evaluation and external assessment, we began to sense that God was directing us to simplify, focus, and return to 'basics'.  This led to talking about the vision for our future in terms being an INSIDE-OUT CHURCH.  Essentially, this means that we will be internally healthy but externally focused.

This INSIDE-OUT vision includes four key objectives.  These objectives can not simply be reduced to programs or activities. They are qualitative aims that must progressively describe our church as we become internally healthy and externally focused.  Our INSIDE-OUT vision is to become a:

Unified Church
We will strengthen our corporate unity through embracing two primary commitments: 1) a commitment to our common vision; and 2) a commitment to healthy relationships. The former will be established by our acceptance our this Vision Path. The latter will be developed through an emphasis on small groups as an integral part of life at FBC.

Disciple-Making Church
We must be either ‘reaching’ them or ‘teaching’ them. In regards to ‘teaching’ we will craft a simple yet clear plan and process for nurturing and establishing new disciples, building growing disciples, and equipping leading disciples.

Community–Serving Church
We will intentionally engage in indentifying and serving identifiable needs within our larger community. A team will be established to mobilize the church body so that we will more and more be Salt & Light to our neighbors.

Multiplying Church
Beginning and blessing the birth of new churches has been a honored part FBC’s heritage. We believe God is calling us back to this. We envision becoming a church that partners in regional church planting. Closer to home, we envision God using us to diversify our congregation by establishing a ministry to Spanish speaking Latinos with a view to birthing a Latino congregation parallel to our present one.
